In worship, we seek to honor God with our whole lives. We like to remind people that worship is not just “singing songs on Sunday“. When we gather on Sunday, our services emphasize Jesus at the center of our worship, His finished work on the cross, and the building of the Kingdom of God.
FCC loves variety in its music. Although typically contemporary, we value the modern expression of praise as well as deep theology of hymns of old. Songs are meant to teach and encourage, providing a chance for the truth of God’s word to be on the lips of God’s people. First Christian Church is a church that loves to sing. Our regular services follow the Revelation – Response model, where God reveals Himself to us through the preaching and reading of His Word, and we respond through worship and song.
We strive to provide a variety of volunteer ministry opportunities in “worship arts” to those wanting to use their gifts and talents to enhance our corporate praise and worship of God. Currently those opportunities include vocal and instrumental worship teams, special music, technical ministries such as sound, projection, and lighting, decorating the worship center, and occasional dramatic plays or skits. Check out the FCC calendar to see the schedule of events.
Using our skills and gifts in serving our Lord Jesus fills us with joy, even as we spend ourselves. For example, the more we give in music, praise, and worship, the more we have to give! And, the better we come to know our Savior, the more we desire to serve Him with our lives and the gifts He has given us.
If you are gifted in the arts and have a heart to serve the Lord, we would enjoy giving you a place to do just that.
