This is the third message in a four- week message series called the Journey to the Cross. In this series will we focus primarily on the Book of John, chapters 18 and 19 as we journey to Easter. Now you may ask why John and not the other gospels? As one reads the gospel of John you’ll notice that John intentionally records some very specific events which the other gospel writers; Matthew, Mark and Luke did not record. And John, he leaves out incidents the other gospels included. One must ask why John’s record especially here in 18 and 19, the arrest, trial and crucifixion of Jesus is different?

Most scholars believe John obviously was aiming to create a certain impression upon his readers about Jesus and when you consider John’s added or deleted emphasizes we do gain a new or different perspective of Jesus. And these different perspectives are most certainly valuable as we can apply them personally to our lives. That’s cause to focus on the Book of John for the next few weeks as we draw to Easter.

Today’s message covers John 18:28 through John 19:16. During this message we’ll consider the interaction between Jesus and Pilate and we’ll learn some very important lessons as John records some specific insight.

I hope you’ll join us for this series. As always, I appreciate you listening. May God bless your day.
