There is no magic in the water that fixes all problems or washes away all sin. Jesus is the only way we are saved.Baptism is a symbol of what Jesus did for us.
When we go down into the water, we’re reminded of Jesus’ death on the cross and how His sacrifice covered our sins. When we come out of the water, we’re reminded that three days later, Jesus rose from the dead, defeating death and securing eternal life for us. Baptism is a symbol—not just for us, but for our friends and family as well—that the old is gone and the new has come.Baptism is about following Jesus example.
In Matthew 3, Jesus chose to get baptized before starting His ministry here on Earth. When we make that same choice, we’re living how Jesus lived. Later, in Matthew 28, Jesus told His followers to go and baptize others. As we get baptized and baptize others, Jesus’ message of love spreads around the world.Baptism is about going public with your faith.
